Irvine-based asset tracking technology provider CalAmp said late last week that it has named Mark Gaydos as its Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). Gaydos was previously CMO at Nlyte Software, and also was Senior Vice President of Marketing at Engine Yard, in addition to serving at Oracle and SAP America.

The company's software connects the Oracle Service Cloud software, Oracle's CRM suite, with telephony software from Genesys, Cisco, Avaya, and Interactive Intelligence.

One of the startup areas where we've been seeing renewed activity in the last few months is in the enterprise software space--specifically, in software-as-a-service applications targeted at corporate customers. I'd used every CRM tool out there--Oracle, Siebel, PeopleSoft--you name it, I've used it. They had to pull the plug.
