Los Angeles-based Verifi , a developer of financial software tools used to reduce chargebacks for merchants, has been acquired by Visa , in order to boost Visa's tools for reducing chargebacks. Verifi had been led by CEO Matthew Katz, and was founded in 2005. Financial details of the acquisition were not announced.

Frequency Inks Video News Deal With Newsy

Los Angeles-based video streaming app and video distribution service Frequency , which is led by Blair Harrison, said today that it has inked a video news deal with millenial-focused video news service Newsy. Harrison previously founded FasTV, and headed up iFILM, which he sold to Viacom back in 2005.

Stickam Shuts Down

Stickam , the live video streaming service, announced on its web site Thursday that it would be shutting down its services, effective 11:59PM PST. The Los Angeles-based company said that it "did everything we could to keep this dream alive", but was "sad to have to say goodbye." Stickam had been founded in 2005.
