At the time we viewed Amazon’s offering, EC2 as too nascent. They built in a feature called “auto scaling&# that monitored for traffic spikes and automatically provisioned new servers on demand and decommissioned them if your traffic surge subsided. In case you don’t know Applied Semantics it’s Google AdSense.
