Zovio Boosts Hiring In San Diego

Chandler, Arizona-based Zovio , a provider of education technology services, says it plans to boost hiring in San Diego, as well as in Chandler, Arizona and Denver, Colorado, as a result of soaring unemployment due to the coronavirus pandemic. Despite the positive plans for hiring, it appears the positions might not go very far in an expensive market like San Diego: Zovio said the new positions have a starting annual salary of $42,000.

Lime Retreats From San Diego

E-scooter company Lime is retreating from San Diego--as well as eleven other markets--in what appears to be a shift in the winds for the micro-mobility market startup world. Lime said that, in addition to San Diego, it is retreating from Atlanta, Phoenix, and San Antonio in the United States; Linz, Austria in Europe; and Bogot, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Lima, Puerto Vallarta, Rio de Janeiro and So Paulo in Latin America.

BIO Shifts San Diego Convention Online

The Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO), the biotechnology community group which had planned its big, annual convention for June 8th through 11th in San Diego, has shifted its convention to a digital-only conference, saying that it made the decision based on the impact of COVID-19, the safety of the attendees and global health recommendations regarding large, in-person gatherings. BIO had expected more than 17,000 attendees to its conference in June in San Diego.

K1 Investment Management Sells San Diego's FMG Suite

Financial terms of the deal were not announced. FMG Suite is a developer of cloud-based marketing automation software specifically for financial services professionals and advisors.
