San Diego-based SmartDrive Systems said Monday that it has named Steve Mitgang as its new CEO. Mitgang was previously CEO of Veoh, and also had served at Senior Vice President of Yahoo!'s s advertising products, platforms, and services.

Los Angeles- and San Diego-based Veoh (www.veoh.com), an online video sharing site, has laid off 20 people, or roughly 18-20 percent of the firm's employees. Veoh said that the firm, although doing well financially, could not predict how soft the online advertising market will become, given the economic challenges of today.

Los Angeles- and San Diego-based Veoh Networks, a provider of Internet video sharing services, said today that it has entered into a partnership with Axel Springer Digital TV Guide GmbH. According to Veoh, Axel Springer is in a strategic international partnership with the firjm, specifically in Germany.
