I grew up in Los Angeles and went to undergrad at UC Santa Barbara, graduating in 2003 with Honors in Economics. You and I were talking about a startup recently and where they might go for seed stage funding, what is your impression on that aspect here in Los Angeles? Los Angeles is a great place for startups.

As a long-time business advisor and angel investor, I’m a believer that “two heads are better than one” in building a new business. The reason is that good attributes apply equally well to “external” partners, as they do to internal partners, like a co-founder or CTO. Carry minimal historical baggage.

Meredith came to see me along with the CTO Marc Berte. The more we dug the more confident we became (and so did every advisor we used). With Meredith I did every on-reference-sheet call I could make and many off-reference-list calls. We hired OSHA regulatory lawyers. We hired IP specialists to review prior art.
