Because they wouldn’t have the enormous amounts of profits that they’ve been able to sink back into research & development. So PPC (pay-per-click) advertising on social networks has performed poorly to date. The same debate always occurs with the pharmaceutical industry. Just ask MySpace. Everybody gains.
