Los Angeles-based Buzznet , which operates a network of web sites focused on celebrities and pop culture, announced this morning that it has raised $12.5M and will rename itself Buzz Media. Buzz Media said it now has more than 40 million people visiting its web sites every month. READ MORE>>.

BUZZMEDIA has a network of music and entertainment news related blogs, including Buzznet, Celebuzz, Absolute Punk, GoFugYourself, JustJared, Stereogum, TheSuperficial, WWTDD, SocialiteLife, and Idolator. The firm is backed by Quadrangle Capital Partners. The firm is now run by Caroline Little, the CEO of Guardian Media North America.
