I find this strange. And maddening.

To update Marc Andreessen’s widely publicized quote from 2011, “OpenStack Software Defined Networks (SDNs) are eating the world.” For instance, in 2000 Gartner created the term Supranet to describe how software would connect disparate hardware – proclaiming the advent of the Internet Of Things a decade and a half too early.

With open source software (LAMP stack) and cloud computing infrastructure it just wasn’t that expensive to get your company going and founders just wanted to raise less money. A few years ago it became fashionable for large VC’s to do seed funding. I could definitely see that happening. I told Sean Rad at Ad.ly
