Torrance-based BQE said on Wednesday that it has received a "significant investment" from private equity investor Serent Capital. Serent Capital is a private equity investor that invests in technology and tech-enabled software companies. The company was founded by Shafat Qazi in 1995.

Torrance-based Pelican Products , which is best known for its protective cases and flashlights and other lighting systems, said late Monday that it has acquired UK-based Cool Logistics , a developer of temperature controlled packaging products.
