What people are really asking is “why not X” where X can be anything but a Microsoft technology. Man, sometimes I’d rather say we developed the site in Assembly and I’m sure I’d get less raised eyebrows. The concept of LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySql, PHP) VS. Microsoft must change. Well, seriously why.Net? I rest my case.

A very interesting topic, especially for those of us involved in developing for start-ups. At the CTO Group that I organize in Santa Monica, we've had lots of discussions around this. Level 1 & 2 Burden is still on the developers, you still have infrastructure. Interestingly it was same developers in both companies.
