It was the first company to do “paid search&# back when Larry & Sergey were saying they would never do it. plus a large settlement on patent disputes paid from Google) so Bill did well on it. Many other people over paid for Chemdex, VerticalNet, Pets.com, etc. Because GoTo.com was his idea.

So he launched a company with exclusively paid search. Users would know exactly how much was paid for each click. Yes, long before Yelp or any similar service. So he founded IdeaLab with his wife Marcia Goodstein (he talks in the video about working with a spouse and also working with siblings).
