Finally we get to: Peter Coffee , Director of Platform Research, Salesforce.com His premise is that we should be beyond having to buy servers, software, or any other infrastructure. He sees this as similar to what happened with SMTP, POP, HTTP, etc. We'll see where my opinion goes after hearing the presentations.

The Internet and World Wide Web themselves emerged from open protocols (HTTP, HTML, SMTP, etc) that allowed businesses, individuals and governments to put information online that was accessible to the masses and then to build applications on top of this infrastructure to the benefit of the masses.
