They also are VERY interesting for background processing tasks that take compute resources or from a storage cloud standpoint. Interesting term used in a ZD Net article - Platform as a Service (PaaS) Unfortunately, Peter sells the promise and ignores the reality. Some other points - LAMP,Net, Java - doesn't make much difference.
