What we’re doing at Meebo is trying to socially enable websites by allowing them to immediately get not only the social graph information but to do useful stuff with it. Leverage a feedback platform like Get Satisfaction or UserVoice. Initial traffic was driven by word-of-mouth, specifically blogs and a bit of luck.
