No question, the economic downturn took its toll on software industry mergers and acquisitions in 2009. The market got eerily quiet.until the fourth quarter when there was a flurry of software MandA activity. The first quarter's deal activity was up sharply from a year ago, as are valuations. Buyers and sellers all retreated.
