Santa Monica-based videogame developer Activision Blizzard and Santa Ana-based Web Wise Kids , a provider of Internet safety education, announced this morning that the two are in a new partnership. In this case, the firm said it is seeking a technologist with a BA/BS in CS/EE/Engineering, with experience in the consumer web or games space. Southern California has a long tradition of computer gaming experience, with such firms as THQ, Activision, Blizzard, EA, and many others maintaining development studios in the region.

Earlier this month, Los Angeles-based Gamzee (www.gamzee.com), a new game company founded by Howard Marks, the co-founder of Activision and Acclaim Games, announced a seed round of funding. Right now, those Facebook apps only work on the web. What is Gamzee all about? Howard Marks: We started our business in April.

William is in San Diego, and is a longtime gaming vet, having been at Activision in the days of The Manhole and Myst. In 2007, we tried to launch it for the iPhone web, and the platform still couldn't handle it. It had originally been a web-based, flash game, so we created a fascimile in 2010 with a list of loyal users.
