Los Angeles- and San Diego-based Veoh (www.veoh.com), an online video sharing site, has laid off 20 people, or roughly 18-20 percent of the firm's employees. Veoh said that the firm, although doing well financially, could not predict how soft the online advertising market will become, given the economic challenges of today.

Empty seats make the audience wonder if they got ripped off, season ticket holders wonder if they should renew for next season, and create a negative impact on viewers and advertisers. I’m hoping the city of Los Angeles lets us stay here. I had to close the doors of businesses and layoff people. This is my fourth startup.
