Los Angeles-based movie ticketing site Fandango has jumped on the Facebook bot bandwagon, saying Tuesday at Facebook's F8 conference that it will be launching its own, Fandango bot, which will book movie tickets via Facebook Messenger. The new bot will roll out sometime in May. READ MORE>>.

Prior to that, I had an app in the App Store, when iOS first came out, which was basically like a Fandango for live music. People at the Apple conference were completely in awe. Are people surprised that such a technology intensive, software firm is here in Los Angeles, and not Silicon Valley? They thought it was not possible.
