Burbank-based Steamboat Ventures , the venture capital arm of the Walt Disney Company, has backed Woodman Labs the parent firm of sports camera maker GoPro. Financial details of the investment were not disclosed. The WSJ first reported the investment Wednesday. It appears the investment was led by Steamboat's Beau Laskey.

GoPro , the maker of wearable, action sports cameras, which has operations in San Diego, has scored a strategic investment which includes the involvement of Burbank Steamboat Ventures , GoPro said today. GoPro also has operations in San Diego, and also recently acquired San Diego's Cineform.
