In retrospect, however, Bill Gates did a lot of things right as a startup that I still look for today in aspiring entrepreneurs and their companies: Build a strong team. One startup, no matter how smart the people and how well it is funded, can only do so much. That’s real viral marketing. IBM learned a lot from Microsoft on this one.
