The last time we spent much time chatting with Chris Lyman and Corey Brundage , they were at Los Angeles telephony software firm Fonality , busy getting their employees set up in a full blown, mixed-martial arts (MMA) "fight club". I had become increasingly frustrated that there was no rating system for people.

To interconnect these computers we needed IP-based telecommunications equipment build by the likes of Cisco Systems and Juniper Networks. Changes in the Software World & in Venture Capital. Not all of these products & companies came from Silicon Valley but the overwhelming majority did. And then the world changed.

It has the dual technology patrons and yet the consistent story I get is that they’re not actively out embracing the startup community, helping local successes emerge, getting comfortable with the symbiotic benefits of some employees going to startups that innovate at a different pace and then buying up local teams, talent & IP.
