A good friend, and college athletics coach, very wisely said to me “you can’t fill a big hole with a bunch of little things.” The TinkerBarn model is to work very closely with founders to help them build -their- businesses and then provide them with the capital they need to grow and scale their ideas. and so is my brain… and my wife!).

We are happy to now support every & all accelerator in town that provides capital and office space and we want to focus on mentorship, coaching, advice, community building, etc. They have aggregated talent into similar locations to learn from each other and made it easier for high-profile mentors to meet many companies at once.

A while back I heard a talk by Dave McClure, a long-time angel investor, who also proclaims to be one of the “new breed” of venture capitalists in Silicon Valley, as CEO of 500Startups , which is either a micro-VC seed fund, or a startup incubator, or both. He is going gangbusters, and is now targeting a $50M second round of funding.
