On Friday, at the LA CTO Forum , I heard from a couple of CTOs having trouble finding good developers. I don’t have specific suggestions for people you can hire. I’ll leave that for another discussion as the inquiry that I keep getting is more about local talent than offshore talent. My methods are pretty vanilla.

Eric Sikola: We've got seven people full time, and all our development is offshore, our CTO is onshore, and we have people doing graphical design locally plus others helping part time. How big is the firm now? Eric Sikola: I was born and raised in Southern California.

The conversations bleed into the sales messages the next time, they wend their way into software designs and form the plan of attach against competition. CEO, VP Products and CTO must all be in the physical location. I prefer the first sales hires to be in the home office. He downs cold ones with the head of biz dev.
