Amazon EC2 would be considered fully managed cloud, which also happens to be off premise. We are also pushing out updates all the time to our customers. With our software, our clients just inherited the ability to use Ceph, and there was nothing they had to do to get that. There is an advantage and disadvantage to that.

Finally we get to: Peter Coffee , Director of Platform Research, Salesforce.com His premise is that we should be beyond having to buy servers, software, or any other infrastructure. Benefit of a proprietary platform can be finding customers.
