Storage hardware developer Adaptec is shutting down its Lake Forest, Orange County site, according to sources close to the company. Adaptec moved into Lake Forest in August of 2008, when it acquired Aristos Logic , a developer of RAID chips and technology.

Last week, Irvine-based Inspired Instruments (www.yourockguitar.com) announced a round of funding, saying that it has developed an electronic guitar which combines the game controller functionality for popular videogames like Rock Band and Guitar Hero with actual musical functionality. Those are built into the guitar.
