Santa Barbara-based RightScale , the cloud management software developer backed by Tenaya Capital , DAG Ventures, Benchmark Capital , Index Ventures , and Presidio Ventures, and PHP developer Zend Technologies , said today that they have launched a jointly developed solution for deploying and managing PHP applications.

Los Angeles-based NationBuilder , which develops software-as-a-service to help groups organize their supporters, has opened up a new set of APIs for third party developers. The firm said it already had a number of companies using the APIs, which allow developers to access a nationwide database of voters, contacts, and much more.

Linux (instead of UNIX), Apache (web server software), MySQL (instead of Oracle) and PHP. Of course there were variants – we preferred PostGres to MySQL and many people used other programming languages than PHP. My bet is that they fold A9 (their search tool) into AWS and offer search-as-a-service, too.
