Compared cost there vs. second company that raised $500K and used S3 and other platforms. All about end-user requests.

.&# They started by offering cloud storage (S3) on a super cheap, pay-as-you consume basis. They then launched processing capabilities (EC2) and we startups suddenly didn’t need to buy production servers. I’m just in awe of what they’ve enabled and baffled that the media doesn’t give this more focus.

The focus was S3 - storage service, EC2 - their compute cloud, their queuing system, and their flexible payment system. The S3 system is not a transactional object system, it's for larger objects, larger updates. The EC2 is very similar to having a Linux box in a colocation facility.
