El Segundo-based International Rectifier , a manufacturer of analog, digital, and mixed signal ICs, said it expects to close its El Segundo based fabrication facility by the end of March, 2013. International Rectifier had announced the move in August. IR is also downsizing its Newport, Wales fabrication facility.

El Segundo-based International Rectifier is planning on cutting 850 jobs, or approximately 18 percent of its workforce, the maker of mixed signal semiconductors said Thursday as part of its earnings release. The company also said it will close two facilities--one, in Newport, Wales, and the other in El Segundo.

Computer game maker Activision Blizzard is apparently cutting jobs in El Segundo and Los Angeles, according to a filing with the California Employment Development Department. California requires companies to give employees at least 60 day notice of mass layoffs.
