While you dialed AOL to get on the Internet, the goal of AOL was to keep you locked into their proprietary content and thus earned the classification of “walled garden.&# They had a proprietary browser, their own search engine, their own content, chat rooms, email system, etc. And now they want to revolutionize email.

You even got Yahoo! I try to answer all my emails as quickly as possible and maintain a positive connection and help anyone I can, since I have been a freelancer myself. I gave her the email address to the AP department and let them sort it all out. But nothing fancy, probably just an app that is wrapped in HTML 5.

We had email, instant messaging, group calendars, discussion boards, etc. They had a proprietary browser, their own search engine, their own content, chat rooms, email system, etc. But AOL brought online services, email, chat and discussion boards to the masses and thus educated a generation that paved the way for others.
