Last night I attended the inaugural Open Angel Forum event started by Jason Calacanis , a fellow LA resident. Jason started the Open Angel Forum in response to his frustration that entrepreneurs were being charged by some angel organizations to present at their events. It does not and that’s a good thing.

was launched with nearly $2mm in Angel funding from the Pasadena Angels and Tech Coast Angels. We had an advocate in each Angel group who aggressively lead the effort. Someone has to do the heavy lifting of advocating, organizing, and building enthusiasm about your company within their Angel group.

I recently wrote a post on angel financing covering the topic of convertible notes but I realized I was thinking about the issue more from investor perspective and a very narrow topic of how to price the round. In most cases if you can’t get a prototype done you’re probably not an entrepreneur. That’s OK.

Our marketplace is organized like a used item marketplace, like Amazon or eBay, or Craiglist, in that a seller lists an item, picks a cause, and sets a price. We also pitched at the finals of the Tech Coast Angels Fast Pitch, and got a very warm reception there. But, I realized it wasn't for me.
