First, you’ll need a platform. The disadvantage is that you can’t install a lot of additional tools that use Javascript. That way people who want to get your blog by RSS and/or email can do so. I’m very particular to Disqus as my commenting platform. I put much time into it. Blogger kinda sucks IMHO.

First, you’ll need a platform. It’s much easier to build an audience in social blogging platforms the way you do in Twitter or Facebook. The disadvantage is that you can’t install a lot of additional tools that use Javascript. That way people who want to get your blog by RSS and/or email can do so.
