San Diego-based GoMeta , a new, augmented reality startup being led by serial entrepreneur Dmitry Shapiro, has raised $2M in a seed funding round, and launched its app out of beta. Both Howard Lindzon and Dave Samuel are joining the firm's board as part of the funding. Altly detailed its plans to create an alternative to Facebook last week, complaining in a lengthy manifesto from Shapiro that an alternative to Facebook was sorely needed due to privacy and other issues with the social networking site.
