Michael Jones , CEO of MySpace and former founder of Userplane, has another exit under his belt today, as AOL announced it has acquired Thing Labs , a San Francisco maker of web-based, social software. Thing Labs was foundedin June of 2008, with funding from Jones, Polaris Venture Partners, SoftTech VC, and Jeff Clavier.

He’s had multiple exits and also advises private startups (his company Userplane sold to AOL for nearly $40 million and Tsavo Media drew a cool $75 million from Cyberplex ). Mike Jones may be known for his most recent role as CEO of MySpace , but this Internet entrepreneur is no stranger to the startup world.

Santa Monica-based Tsavo Media, the new startup founded by Userplane founder Michael Jones, has launched a new division, focused on search engine marketing. Tsavo is funded by American Capital. A serial Internet entrepreneur, Mike has founded, advised, invested and sold numerous businesses, including application platform Userplane, which he led from startup to its acquisition by AOL, Tsavo Media, Movoxx, PeopleMedia, Brizzly and Myspace. Mike is actively involved with early-stage start-ups as an investor, advisor and board member.

Sometrics is venture backed by The Mail Room Fund, a Los Angeles-based early stage fund backed by Accel, Venrock, and the William Morris Agency. I worked at Userplane, building social applications for sites like MySpace. Case in point in Zynga, which was able to raise more than $20M in funding.
