Los Angeles-based GOGII , the venture backed provider of mobile social messaging services, has snagged MySpace exec Chandra Hill as its new Vice President of Monetization and Publishing. GOGII develops textPlus, a mobile social messaging application for the iPhone. Hill was most recently VP of Mobile Monetization at MySpace.

I talked in specifics about a bunch of my investments including Factual , MongoLab , Maker Studios and Gogii (maker of TextPlus ). Either company had the potential to try and broaden their businesses to turn them into something monetizable whether it be a social network, a telecom company, a gaming company, a media company – whatever.

In total, Demand Media owns 20 media networks in the US alone and is one of the best reasons why Paul Graham believes Hollywood is dead. For the Scott Lahman fans, the inclusion of Sky Dayton cover JAMDAT which is a lot of the Gogii team. Your former Activision early hire Scott Lahman is not on this list as CEO of Gogii/TextPlus.

It's a full-blown, B2B social network. I went into my network--and I have pretty extensive experience in the internet space, with Digital Evolution and with U.S. He's now at Gogii, which has received investment from Kleiner. It's a problem for ad networks. It's a double viral loop. How are you funded and backed?
