It’s central standard was HTML (hyper text markup language) that described how we would show data on computer screens. When web browsers (the programs that can read and interpret HTML) were popularized they were “dumb.” The one big concern many people had was how to constrain the total dominance of Google.

Wordpress in particular is fairly resource heavy right out of the box so speeding up everything else is a critical piece of running a site on this platform. The problem with most of the share badges out there is that they load a Javascript file from an external source which can take several seconds on a bad day.
