One of those high profile neighborhoods here is Pasadena, home of Idealab, Caltech, OpenX, and many other high tech companies and institutions. More than 80 percent of the IP out of those institutions gets licensed, but less than 20 percent of that goes into startups. Only a minority of those are in this area.
