I grew up in Thousand Oaks, went to USC, and we met each other way back in the 90's. The easiest way to look at it, from the tech perspective, is that we are very similar to LendingClub. We said, let's create a technology marketplace and platform that creates benefits for those existing lenders, as well as investors.

They wanted to do 3-D X-rays, but at the time, there was not technology available to do that. We thought we could deliver that 3D image as a software-as-a-service. Unfortunately, UCLA''s money dried up due to legal issues. Mike Outmesguine: They wanted to do X-rays instead. One in four of the patients died on the table.
