FastSoft's technology is based out of Caltech, and was originally developed to accelerate traffic on the next generation Internet, Internet2. Akamai said the buy will help it enhance rich media delivery, as well as in mobile applications and the cloud. Financial terms of the cash buy were not disclosed.
