Imagine Impact , the entertainment accelerator launched by Brian Grazer and Ron Howard to try and bring Silicon Valley-style mentorship and project development techniques to Hollywood, has inked a development deal with Netflix and is looking for submissions. The companies did not disclose the financial terms of the agreement.

I saw VCs doing crazy things in 2007-08 when I first entered the VC market – crazy prices, limited due diligence, large funding rounds. Plus, as I live in Los Angeles it is where some of the smartest talent thinking about this space resides. I will write about some of these topics soon. I avoided much of this.

GRP has just recently closed on a new $200M fund, and Mark has been one of the more active venture capitalists in the Los Angeles area in recent months. I think because we're a Hollywood town, people haven't taken it all that seriously. An A-round investment in the late 90's, or even in 2005/2006, or 2007, was a $5-8M check.

The created a hegemony that delayed innovation until January 2007 when the iPhone was introduced. The changing nature of content & the role of the narrative – A lot of Hollywood people say that the traditional “narrative&# of filmed entertainment will hold in the Internet meets TV world.
