This week, Los Angeles-based Crosscut Ventures announced a brand new effort to provide health and wellness to the founders of companies it invests in, helping those founders with well being, mental health, stress management, coaching, and leadership development. It's developed quite a bit from when we first conceptualized the firm in 2008.

I spent my first year developing proprietary deal flow and learning the business and then the Sept 2008 / Lehman Bros collapse / financial meltdown happened. Working with early-stage teams : coaching, mentoring, setting strategy, rolling up sleeves: 9/10. I become a venture capitalist in September 2007 – exactly 6.5 years ago.

I’ve heard directly from top executives that Jeff Bezos (in my opinion the most talented person in the tech industry) has received his fair share of VC coaching in the early years. Compare the state of play in 2013 versus 15 years ago. hours / day. Agree whole heartedly.
