Our industry just took one big step towards legitimacy with the hiring of renowned media exec Ynon Kreiz to run Maker Studios. This followed an investment late last year by Time Warner in the company in a round totaling $36 million , led by Rachel Lam , head of their investment group. Distribution costs have, too.

That CES was in 2013, and there wasn't a lot on the market at the time. We've just got a couple more things we need to do with our mold to build our components, and we have a contract manufacturer in Moorpark building things for us in the U.S. Plus, we've hired a new CTO and CRO to help grow the tech and business side.

Subsequently, I built another, similar company, which I sold to Sun Microsystems, and then started a B2B, online exchange with my current CTO, and sold that to IFILM, which was subsequently acquired by Viacom. We raised our seed money in 2013, and we stayed local. Our seed investors were all, Southern California based investors.
