He eventually founded and sold consumer health firm ViSalus to a public company and is now back making investments, in technology companies, as a venture capitalist here at Los Angeles-based HashtagOne (www.hashtagone.com). As a result, I really saw Visalus as a technology company. I know all of that.

We found that software wasn't being bought by the team members and product leaders who needed it, but was being bought by CIOs in large corporations. Everyone wants to read a PDF, but few want to write or change them. Anders and I own a multitude of patents at Nokia--I have 11 at Nokia--and we were inventing technology all the time.

I’m just not sure you can build a great technology firm outside of Bay Area.&#. Los Angeles. There is no region in the country that comes close to having the sheer number of angels & VCs that Silicon Valley has as well as the dollars that flow into the region (40% of all dollars, PwC Moneytree report ).
