I made the point (not widely publicized) that OS4 is currently “breaking&# many applications that use ad networks that are not Apples (most notably AdMob, owned by Google). We also talked about how brands are increasing driving much of their traffic to Facebook and away from their own web pages. But it’s a real phenomenon.

Bill Gross is the man responsible for the overwhelming amount of monetization on the web. I think the best solution for the social networking era is “in-stream&# advertising. I know you could argue that YouTube was much broader but it was really popularized in the social networks. 2.6mm in Series A : Canaan , Anthem.

And it is one of the reasons that NYC is developing a vibrant technology community. I see it first hand in Los Angeles where given the growth of YouTube networks the worlds of art & technology are colliding. I’m sure there’s a lot of truth to that. As a result younger people are creating startups because they can.
