Burstly, a Santa Monica based company, provides an open and free ad management platform that helps mobile application developers better monetize their inventory. It broke the hegemony that the carriers had over software on mobile phones and the industry will forever be changed (for the better) for this. I like that.

Well, now we have a much larger group of products and services with and without the Internet discovering the same thing. The massive shift in revenue models in recent years. Call it the Netflix effect.
