Santa Monica-based Clearstone Ventures appears to be on an exit roll this month, with the acquisition Thursday of Ankeena Networks , a supplier of software for content delivery networks. Clearstone's Sumant Mandal sits on Ankeena's board of directors.
For today's Insights and Opinions section, we thought we'd share a recent article penned by Clearstone Ventures' William Quigley. In all of the recent rush to create internet accelerators in the region, William talks about, Bill Gross, the person behind the "original" tech incubator, Idealab.
We caught Rahul in a more serious conversation, and spoke to him about his venture funded, location-based information startup and what it's up to, as well as got the story behind the firm's incubation at Clearstone Ventures. Rahul Sonnad: We did a seed round with Clearstone Ventures, that incubated us in their Santa Monica office.
Speakers listed: Brock Pierce – Digital currency pioneer investing in Bitcoin, games, and online gambling businesses; Clearstone Global Gaming Fund. Richard Wolpert – Managing Director of Amplify.LA, startup incubator and Venture Advisor at Accel Partners. Kind of like that, but with money.
