But one theme in pervasive in all my thinking about investing in Internet-based companies: Deflationary economics. So when you start your company think carefully about whom your target customer is.

You can think of even your PC as a stack in which the hardware manufacturers handled physical layers, Microsoft handled the OS layer and application companies built higher up in the stack. I’m not covering the actual layers of the Internet (under the OSI model) but rather the Cloud Services layer. I trusted his judgment.
