You may not see it here in Southern California's high tech sector--which has been booming, due to a surge of startup and accelerator activity--but apparently, the technology sector has seen its highest level of layoffs in three years, according to a report today. The number of cuts is apparently the largest, midyear total since 2009.

Citrix Systems , a provider of enterprise infrastructure software based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, said Wednesday that the firm is reducing its headcount by approximately 10 percent--and has laid off staff at the firm's Santa Barbara Unit, Citrix Online. A spokesperson for Citrix confirmed the cuts Friday evening.
