San Diego-based cloud storage company Nirvanix has officially shut down its service, saying in a posting on its website that it is actively winding down its business, and is scrambling to transfer data on the cloud storage service to other providers.

Companies like Dropbox, Microsoft, Google, and many others are setting the standard for those cloud services. So, if you''re a cloud storage provider, how do you get to the next level in terms of your service and company? We''re not using third party services such as Amazon S3, which just adds to your cost.

When I built my first company starting in 1999 it cost $2.5 That’s awesome for users of Salesforce.com or companies that want to cater to them but less awesome for pure startups that want independence and are really just looking for cloud infrastructure. That makes both of these amazing companies great channels for startups.
