As a long-time business advisor and angel investor, I’m a believer that “two heads are better than one” in building a new business. In fact, I would broaden the definition of partner from co-founder to “business partner.” Thus you should do the same or more due diligence on educational background, previous work, and references.

We're definitely Los Angeles natives, but we got the opportunity to do TechStars. The most attractive thing about it was the educational value. So, we were pretty excited to educate ourselves at TechStars. We have some great mentors now. It's actually uncommon to have a female CTO.
